Sagapolutele, Ferrelli Added To Alexander Award Watch List
Cal Freshmen Are Among 15 Mid-Year Additions
California freshmen Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele and Luke Ferrelli have been added to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list, the Maxwell Club announced Tuesday.
Sagapolutele, an Ewa Beach, Hawaii, native, has thrown for 1,487 yards and nine touchdowns through six games this season for the Golden Bears. Sagapolutele has been named the ACC's Rookie of the Week two times through six weeks of play.
Ferrelli, a redshirt freshman, has compiled 45 tackles, 2.5 TFL with an interception and sack. His lone interception sealed Cal's 28-24 victory over Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. After redshirting a season ago, Ferrelli has started all six games so far this season.
