Cal Falls Short To Louisville, 10-9

Bears Can’t Get Game-Winner In Overtime

BERKELEY – California lacrosse returned to California Memorial Stadium on Saturday for its first-ever ACC game but fell to Louisville 10-9 in overtime.

Cal midfielder and team captain Kennedy Mason scored the first goal during the first three minutes of the game. Mason led the Bears with four goals.

Emily Moes later scored her second goal of the season, stopping Louisville's 4-0 run. Freshman Willow Cyr scored her first goal for Cal with an assist by Moes in the third quarter, followed by a goal by Avery Hoeft. Goalkeeper Chloe Rand made seven saves, reaching a career high.

With 26 seconds left on the clock, Cal's Courtney Wong was able to tie up the score 9-9 to force overtime. However, the Bears weren't able to take the lead, falling short by one goal.

Cal will next take on Oregon on Thursday at 3pm PT at California Memorial Stadium.
