LIVE RESULTS
The California diving team heads to Federal Way, Washington, for the NCAA Zone Championships that are scheduled for Monday-Wednesday at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The competition is a three-day event that begins at 11:30 a.m. PT each day.
The event will determine who advances to the NCAA Championships later this month. All divers have a chance to compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform events. The top 18 finishers advance to the final round then the top five female divers and top four male divers from the final round will be eligible to compete in the NCAA Championships. All preliminary scores will carry over to the final rounds to calculate final placement.
This marks the first time in program history that all eight divers have qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships. Last year, two of Cal's divers advanced to the NCAA Championships - Joshua Thai made his second consecutive appearance and Geoffrey Vavitsas qualified for his first national championships. Vavitsas finished in fifth place in the 10-meter dive with a final score of 404.90 and Thai placed 10th with a 394.50.
Last time out, the Bears had a strong showing at their first ACC Championships. Thai advanced to the finals of the 3-meter dive and placed fifth while Vavitsas finished fifth on platform. Violet Williamson was the top performer on the women's side with a 14th-place finish on platform.
