JACKIE ROBINSON DAY - Cal Baseball is one of many organizations that will celebrate and honor the late Jackie Robinson on April 15. Robinson broke the Major League Baseball color line 78 years ago on April 15, 1947, when he started a game for the Brooklyn Dodgers and became the first African-American to play in the MLB's modern era.
 
LOTS OF HOME GAMES - Cal will play 12 of its final 17 regular-season games at home beginning with Tuesday night's contest against Fresno State. The Bears also have three ACC series (NC State, Florida State, Boston College) and two other nonconference contests (Saint Mary's, San Francisco) at Stu Gordon Stadium.
 
CLOSE CONTESTS - Cal has played lots of competitive, close games in 2025, with 11 contests decided by two runs or less. Cal is 3-8 in those games.
 
SIX TOP 25 ACC SERIES - The schedule makers gave the Golden Bears a challenging slate in their first season in the ACC in 2025, including six conference series against teams ranked in the top 25 of at least one national college baseball poll. The Bears played five straight series against ranked foes in No. 14 Virginia, at No. 14 Stanford and No. 18 Louisville, against No. 6 Clemson and at No. 18 Georgia Tech. No. 7 Florida State remains on the schedule with a series slated for May 9-11.
 
ADVINCULA ALL-AMERICAN WORTHY - 2B Jarren Advincula has put together an All-American caliber season to this point. Advincula is hitting .386 while ranking second in the ACC and tied for 14th nationally with 59 hits that are only seven off the national lead. He is among the top 10 in the ACC and national leaders in eight offensive categories.
 
TEAM BATTING AVERAGE RACE - 2B Jarren Advincula (.386), OF Jacob French (.385) and 3B Cade Campbell (.379) remain in a tight three-way race for the team's batting average title with only seven points of separation and have all led at one point in the season. 
 
LOTS OF OFFENSE - Cal currently ranks among ACC and national leaders in triples (12, T1/T25), home runs (49, 5/T42), slugging percentage (.494, 5/48), hits (359, 5/T53), doubles (76, 6/T38) and batting average (.293, 7/83). 
 
PLAYING D - Cal is fifth in the ACC and 45th nationally with a .976 fielding percentage. The Bears have made just a single error over their last six contests.
 
TRIPLES DISCREPANCY - While Cal's 12 triples are tied for the most in the ACC and tied for 25th nationally, the Bears have allowed just one triple.
 
STARTING TRIO - Cal has three players who have started all 35 games in 2025 in 2B Jarren Advincula (1 start at DH), SS PJ Moutzouridis and CF Seth Gwynn.
 
FIRST START FOR DESSART - Spencer Dessart is scheduled to make his first start on the mound for the Golden Bears on Tuesday.
 
ABOUT THIS TIME LAST YEAR - It was the about this time last year when Cal got hot and reeled off a season-long nine-game win streak to begin a 20-5 stretch to close the 2024 campaign (April 10-May 24).
