Senior Garrett MacQuiddy capped off an eventful day for the California track & field team Friday evening by setting the school record in the 1500m with a time of 3:38.50 at the Bryan Clay Invitational.MacQuiddy, who finished fourth in his section, broke the previous program standard of 3:39.43 set by alumnus Thomas Joyce in 2015

Sophomore teammate Justin Pretre set a personal best in the same race with a 3:42.72, good for the eighth-best time ever at Cal.

At the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, sophomore Lucija Leko won the women's shot put with a mark of 16.54m (54-3.25) – the second-best throw in Cal history. She was joined in that competition by redshirt senior Caisa-Marie Lindfors (second place, 15.83m/51-11.25) and redshirt sophomore Giavonna Meeks (third place, 15.35m/50-4.25), who respectively posted the program's No. 7 and No. 10 all-time marks.

Several other Bears set personal bests at the Mt. SAC Relays. Freshman Gabriel Rodriguez shaved over three seconds off his career-best 1500m time, taking second place in the collegiate section with a time of 3:53.36, while classmate Sam Franco followed up with a 13-second PR in the 5000m at 14:24.06. Freshmen Fallyn Gowans (14.00w, 100m hurdles) and Wazell Wright (10.75, 100m) recorded wind-aided and wind-legal PRs, respectively, after which junior Jayden Hill lowered her 800m time to 2:09.36 to take third place. In the field, sophomore Adrianna Coleman added  three meters to her previous best mark in the discus with a throw of 47.83m (156-11), while senior Riley Knott leaped to a wind-aided PR of 7.11m (23-4) in the long jump.

Juniors Jason Plumb and Ali Sahaida posted third-place finishes in their respective events, with Plumb earning a best mark of 7.56m (24-9.75) in the long jump and Sahaida clearing the bar at 4.20m (13-9.25) in the Elite B pole vault section.
