Swadling Leads 6 Bears On All-MPSF Squads
Senior Lands On First Team, Flynn Earns Second Career Selection
BERKELEY – California senior attacker
Ruby Swadling was named to the 2025 All-MPSF First Team, highlighting a group of six Golden Bears who collected all-conference accolades Thursday ahead of this weekend's MPSF Championship in Los Angeles.
Â
Swadling, who did not play for Cal in 2024 while she trained with the Australian National Team, made a triumphant return to the collegiate game this spring, netting 51 goals across 21 games for the Bears.
Â
Fellow senior attacker
Elena Flynn was tabbed to the second team for her second straight All-MPSF selection – she was a first-team pick in 2024 in her first season as a Golden Bear – while senior utility
Rozanne Voorvelt and redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Talia Fonseca earned All-MPSF honorable mentions for the first time in their respective careers.
Â
Freshmen
Miriam Bogachenko and
Rosalie Hassett rounded out Cal's six honorees with MPSF All-Newcomer Team selections.
Â
Cal's six total All-MPSF selections were tied with UCLA and USC for the most in the conference.
The full list of 2025 All-MPSF selections can be viewed on MPSports.org.
Â
Swadling – who's previous best all-conference recognition was an honorable mention in 2023 – scored 18 of her 51 goals in Cal's six MPSF matches and ranked among the league's best in steals (27, eighth), spring wins (13, 10th) and field blocks (10, 10th) at the end of the regular season.
Â
Flynn tallied 43 goals for the Bears, trailing only Swadling on the team. Bogachenko and Voorvelt – a 2022 MPSF All-Newcomer selection – were close behind in goals with 30 and 28, respectively.
Â
Fonseca racked up 151 saves – the third most in the conference – in her first season as Cal's starting keeper.
Â
Fourth-seeded Cal will face No. 5 seed San Jose State in the MPSF Championship quarterfinals at 2:30 p.m. PT Friday.
