Bears Set for 8-Game Conference Slate
BERKELEY - The California field hockey team announced its 2025 schedule Wednesday, featuring a 15-game slate with eight contests to be played at Underhill Field.
The Golden Bears will face off against seven teams who appeared in the NCAA tournament a season ago, including 2024 ACC champion and NCAA runner-up North Carolina. Cal was featured in the Penn Monto/NFHCA DI National Coaches Poll three times last season, marking its first appearance in the rankings since 2018. Cal will compete against six teams that finished the 2024 season ranked in the coaches poll.
The Bears will begin the 49th campaign in program history with a two-game road stint against nonconference opponents Monmouth (Aug. 29) and Ball State (Aug. 31).
Cal will welcome Harvard to Berkeley to begin its home slate on Friday, Sept. 5, before facing off against Ball State (Sept. 7) and Ohio (Sept. 14) to close the three-game homestand.
The Bears will begin conference play on Friday, Sept. 19, when they head to the East Coast to take on 11-time national champions North Carolina, who topped the ACC a season ago for the 27th time in program history. Cal will then make a quick trip to Durham to take the field against Duke on Sunday, Sept. 21.
The Bears return home for their longest homestand of the season, beginning on Friday, Sept. 26 for a matchup against conference foe Virginia, followed by UC Davis (Sept. 28), Boston College (Oct. 10), and Syracuse (Oct. 12).
Cal will head to the bluegrass state to begin its final road trip of the season against Louisville on Oct. 17, before taking on Wake Forest (Oct. 19) and UC Davis (Oct. 24) to conclude its road slate.
The Bears will conclude the regular season at home in the 125th all-time meeting against rival Stanford on Thursday, Oct. 30.
Cal will return nine members from the 2024 team, including leading scorer and ACC Freshman of the Year
Liz Klompmaker. The 2025 roster will also feature 10 newcomers – five freshmen, three transfers and two graduate students.
