Bears Go Unbeaten At Rare Air Challenge

Cal Showcases Stellar Defense On Day 2

USAFA, Colo. – The No. 3 California men's water polo team finished the weekend undefeated after adding two more to the win column on Sunday to close out the Rare Air Challenge at Cadet Natatorium in USAFA, Colorado.
 
The Golden Bears started the day off with an early morning victory over Salem (27-2) after William Kelly and Chase Wilson stole the show with five goals apiece. Tomas Perrone demonstrated stellar defense after recording a team-high three steals.
 
Cal followed that performance with another big win over Mount St. Mary's (27-3) behind a huge performance from freshman Beso Akhvlediani, who recorded a career-high six goals. The Bears had three other student-athletes with at least three goals in the contest.

Tomas Perrone continues to protect the net for the Bears after earning 16 saves on the day, while only surrendering five goals.

Cal will host the Golden Bear Invitational, where they will play in a pair of exhibition matches against international opponents in CN Marseille and CN Atlètic-Barceloneta.
