Lewis Records His Sixth Goal Of The Season, Zalayet Adds A Second-Half Strike For Cal

By: Cal Athletics

BERKELEY — California men's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw against ACC opponent NC State on Sunday afternoon, scoring twice to earn a point at home.

The Golden Bears found themselves trailing early after NC State scored in the ninth minute. Cal responded in the 32nd minute, however, as Callen Lewis found the back of the net to level the score. Florentino Junior provided the assist on Lewis' sixth goal of the season, sending both teams into halftime tied at 1-1.

Cal carried that momentum into the second half, taking the lead in the 64th minute. Malcolm Zalayet finished off a scoring opportunity, with Adrian Jacobs and Brendan Bell recording the assists. The advantage was short-lived, as NC State equalized in the 72nd minute to bring the match level at 2-2. Neither side would find a winner, and the contest ended in a draw.

The Bears return to action at home on Oct. 24, hosting SMU, the match set to air on ACCNX.
