Travers Family Head Football Coach Tosh Lupoi announced Wednesday that the California football team has added 34 players to its 2026 roster, including 32 via the transfer portal as well as two additional high schoolers. The additions bring the number of newcomers on Cal's 2026 roster to 50, including 40 who are enrolled for the 2026 spring semester and already on campus. Cal's 2026 transfer portal class is ranked second in the ACC and 14th nationally according to 247Sports.

The incoming group consists of 15 newcomers on offense, 16 on defense and three specialists.

The offensive newcomers include six offensive linemen, three running backs, three wide receivers, two tight ends and one quarterback with the list consisting of OL Jacob Arop (South Dakota), QB Jackson Brosseau (Colorado State), RB Ashten Emory (UTEP), WR Chase Hendricks (Ohio), OL Jimothy Lewis Jr. (Mississippi State), RB Adam Mohammed (Washington), WR Cooper Perry (Oregon), OL Mykeal Rabess (FIU), OL Anthony Rivera (Kent State), WR Ian Strong (Rutgers), OL Kahlee Tafai (Minnesota), TE Dorian Thomas (New Mexico), OL Roger Vanderhoef (Grant HS), RB Chris Vargas (UC Davis) and TE Rico Walker (Purdue).

Hendricks and Strong, both in their fourth collegiate season in 2026, have had productive collegiate careers at the wide receiver position with a combined 333 receptions, 3,284 yards receiving and 23 touchdown receptions over 75 games and 51 starts in their first three campaigns, while Thomas came on in 2025 of career highs with 56 catches and 560 yards receiving to rank as the third and eighth most among the nation's FBS tight ends. Emory (119-569, 4 TD), Mohammed (106-523, 5 TD) and Vargas (67-448, 4 TD) combined for 292 carries, 1,540 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns on the ground a year ago.

On defense, Cal brought in a group of 16 players with five defensive backs, five edge players, three inside linebackers and three defensive linemen joining the Bears. The list includes EDGE Justin Beadles (Louisville), DB Ricky Fletcher (Ole Miss), DB Marquis Groves-Killebrew (Arizona), DB Daniel Harris (Georgia), DB Michael Hurst Jr. (Northern Arizona), ILB Tristan Jernigan (Texas A&M), DL Jericho Johnson (Oregon), DB Kingston Lopa (Oregon), ILB Kamar Mothudi (Oregon), EDGE Emmanuel Okoye (Tennessee), EDGE Joshua Pierce (North Texas), EDGE Sosaia Noa (Grant HS), DL Ashun Sheppard (Mississippi State), ILB AJ Tuitele (USC), DL Jayden Williams (North Texas) and EDGE Solomon Williams (Texas A&M).

Seven defensive players – Fletcher, Harris, Jernigan, Johnson, Lopa, Mothudi and Solomon Williams  –  played on teams that reached the 2025 College Football Playoff with Fletcher and Harris both starting three games. The seven were among a total of nine Cal newcomers on teams that advanced to the College Football Playoff last year with the others Perry and LS David Bird. A total of 23 were on squads in the 2025 postseason.

The return of Bird, who spent two seasons at Cal (2023-24) before playing at Alabama in 2025, headlines the three added specialists. P Angus Davies (Tulsa) and PK Towns McGough (Auburn) have also joined the Bears.
