SACRAMENTO – The California softball team fell to No. 25 Duke, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at Shea Stadium to conclude the series.

Sophia Everett got the Bears started early, launching a solo home run to straightaway center field in the first inning. Carly Raven followed later in the frame with an RBI single to give Cal a 2-0 advantage.

Duke responded in the third inning with a solo homer to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Blue Devils took their first lead of the game in the fifth, plating three runs to move in front 4-2.

Duke added three insurance runs in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 7-2.

Cal (8-17) returns to action on Tuesday with a road matchup against Pacific. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT.
