The California softball team (13-30) travels south for a three-game nonconference slate at CSUN and at UCLA. The Bears will take on the Matadors on Thursday at 2 p.m. PT before taking on the Bruins in a doubleheader on Saturday. Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for noon PT.

PROGRAM LEGACY
California ranks fourth all-time with 36 NCAA Tournament appearances, trailing only UCLA, Arizona and Florida State. The Bears have advanced to 12 Women's College World Series and have reached each of the past three NCAA Regionals.
Cal captured the 2002 national championship behind Hall of Famers Jocelyn Forest and Candace Harper. Forest earned Women's College World Series Most Outstanding Player honors after going 4-0 with a 0.50 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Harper remains among the program's all-time leaders in games played and assists.
 
ABOUT STEVE SINGLETON
Steve Singleton was named the ninth head coach in program history on Aug. 4, 2025. An Oakland native and former minor league player, Singleton spent three seasons in professional baseball before transitioning to the college ranks.
He joined Texas in 2019, eventually serving as associate head coach and helping guide the Longhorns to three Women's College World Series appearances. Singleton was named D1 Softball Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024.
