The California women's rowing varsity eight has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week, announced Tuesday by the conference office. This is the first weekly ACC award that the Golden Bears have received in 2026 and second overall since Cal joined the ACC in the 2024-25 season.
 
Cal's varsity eight had a strong showing against some of the nation's top competitors this past weekend at the Big Ten Invitational at Lake Natoma in Sacramento. The then-No.9 Bears upset No. 5 Washington twice over the course of the two-day competition, first winning its flight against the Huskies, No. 17 Michigan, No. 20 UCLA and Notre Dame with a time of 6:13.538.
 
On Day 2, the varsity eight posted a runner-up finish in its flight behind No. 1 Stanford. Cal finished the course in 6:12.222 to notch the win over Washington, No. 12 Rutgers and the Wolverines.
 
The crew also defeated Indiana, Minnesota and Washington State on Day 1 in what would be its best time of the weekend, finishing in 6:12.154.
 
Cal will return to the waters on May 2 for The Big Row in Redwood Shores. The Bears and the Cardinal will square off in what will be the regular-season finale.
