STANFORD – The California softball team fell to No. 18 Stanford, 17-1, in five innings on Friday night at Stanford Softball Stadium.

The Cardinal jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, using an error and two hits to get the scoring started.

Stanford added three runs in the second before breaking the game open with a 10-run third inning to take a 17-0 advantage.

Carly Raven drove in the Bears' lone run of the night with an RBI triple in the fourth, bringing the final score to 17-1.

With the loss, the Bears fall to 13-34 overall. Cal and Stanford return to action Saturday afternoon for game two at Stanford Softball Stadium.
