Early Goal Lifts San Diego Over Cal 1-0

Bears Conclude WCC Road Test in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Golden Bears faced the San Diego Toreros in a Sunday afternoon match up, falling 1-0 after being held scoreless. 

San Diego found the back of the net in the 15th minute to take an early lead.

Although Cal played a strong defensive match and created several scoring opportunities, the Bears were unable to find the equalizer. Cal totaled 17 shots, including two on goal, and earned six corner kicks but finished the match scoreless.

Lauryn Fleshman made her collegiate debut and earned her first start for the Bears. Cassidy Doogan also made her first start as a Bear, while Lizzie Vranesh earned her first start of the season. 

This match concluded Cal's WCC road test. The Bears will return home Saturday to face WCC non-conference opponent Loyola Marymount.
