OLYMPIC/INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
- Over the summer of 2015, earned a bronze medal in the 100m back at the World University Games in South Korea, finishing in 1:00.78; also picked up bronze for her role in the prelims for the 400m medley relay
- Member of the U.S. squad for the 2015 World Championships in Russia (50m back) but did not compete due to an illness
- Qualified for the U.S. teams for the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships in Australia and swam in three events – 100m back, 100m fly and 50m free
- Earned a spot on the 2013 USA World Championships team and placed seventh in the 50m backstroke with a time of 28.05
- Won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London by swimming in the prelims of the 400m relay; also placed 11th in the 100m back
- The 2011 Pan American gold medalist in the 100m back and the 400-medley relay
- A member of the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships team, she won the bronze medal in the 50m back
NATIONAL SUCCESS
- Won the 50m back at the U.S. National Championships for the second year in a row in 2014, finishing in 28.35; also took second in the 100 back (1:00.71)
- Set an American and U.S. Open record in the 50 back at the 2013 national meet with a time of 27.68. In addition, finished fourth in the 100 back (59.90) and ninth in the 50 butterfly (26.90) at the meet
- At the 2011 ConocoPhillips Nation Championships, finished second in the 100m back
- Placed third in the 100m back at the 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships
- Became the first junior swimmer to break one minute in the 100m back when she won the event at the 2009 U.S. Open
2012 U.S OLYMPIC TRIALS
- Qualified for the Olympic team with her runner-up finish in the 100m back (59.49)
CALIFORNIA SUCCESS
- A two-time NCAA champion in the 100y back, winning in both 2013 and 2015
- Entered the 2015-16 season ranked among Cal’s all-time top 10 in four events – 100-yard back (2nd, 50.03), 100 fly (7th, 51.53), 200 fly (9th, 1:54.92) and 200 IM (8th, 1:57.01)
- Received the Coaches' Award at the 2015 team banquet
- A CSCAA Scholar All-American and two-time honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic selection
- At the 2015 NCAA Championships, captured the 100 back in a PR 50.03, which was the No. 3 time in history; also a member of the winning 200 free relay, swimming the third leg, and the victorious 200 medley relay at the lead-off backstroker
- In addition, led off the 400 medley relay that finished third; won the B final (9th overall) of the 100 fly (51.53)
- Earn third third Pac-12 title in the 100 back in 2015 (50.84), while also taking third in the 100 fly (51.79) and fourth in the 200 fly (1:55.60); also member of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay and runner-up 400 medley relay
- Part of Cal’s 400 medley relay that placed fifth at the 2014 NCAA meet; individually, finished 11th in the 100 back (51.85)
- Won the 100 back at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships (51.19); also reached finals in the 100 fly (3rd, 52.06) and 200 fly (3rd, 1:55.37); in addition, was a part of Cal’s 200 medley relay (2nd) and 400 medley relay (1st)
- Claimed the 100-yard back at the 2013 NCAA Championships, earning first-team All-American status with a time of 50.13; also took second in the 100 fly (51.68) and sixth in the 200 fly (1:55.57) and was part of four relays that placed among the top 5
- Captured the 100 back in 50.64 and the 200 fly in 1:54.97, in addition to finished second in the 100 fly (51.78), at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships; also a member of Cal’s winning 400 free relay at the meet

- High school state champion in the 100-yard back in 2008, 2010
- High school national record-holder in the 100-yard back set in 2012
- Athena Award Winner in 2012
- USA Swimming's 2011 High School Swimmer of the Year
- 2010 Minnesota State High School Swimmer of the Year
PERSONAL
- Interdisciplinary studies major
- Enjoys relaxing, baking, shopping and hanging out with friends
- Parents are Jan and Robert Bootsma ... her sister, Katie, swims for Miami University in Ohio
- Grandfather Don Rasmusson attended Cal
- Best sports moment was after she made the 2012 Olympic Team: "seeing my sister immediately after my race and seeing tears of joy and her huge smile was the best moment of my life."
