Biography

Spring 2015: Finished the season with records of 21-5 (singles) and 24-11 (doubles)…his singles record includes a 6-3 court-six mark and a 14-2 tournament record…mainly teamed with Filip Bergevi in doubles, and the two posted a 20-9 record, including 10-6 at court three and a 5-1 record in Pac-12 matches…in Cal’s 7-0 rout of Nevada on March 7, he paired with Filip Bergevi to clinch the doubles point (6-4 vs. Billy Bumgardner/Robert Margitfalvi) then later clinched the overall match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mile Cilic on court six...also paired with Bergevi to win in doubles (8-5 over Ricardo Mayagoitia/Paul Cook) in Cal’s 4-0, NCAA round of 64 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Fall 2014: Posted an 11-2 singles record and a 8-2 doubles mark in the fall, when he paired with Filip Bergevi to reach the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships, losing to Washington’s Emmett Egger/Jeff Hawke, 8-7(3) in that round…got to the regional singles round of 32, in which he lost to Washington’s Jake Douglas, 6-7(6), 7-5, 7-5…won a singles title – beating teammate Hasier Pastor, 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 – and a doubles crown at the UCSB Classic...teamed with Wyatt Houghton to beat Fresno State’s Sai Kartik Nakirredi/Youssef Hassan, 8-7, in the doubles final…also won the top-flight singles final and the doubles flight A consolation crown at the Aggie Invitational at UC Davis, beating Nevada’s Ryan Andrada, 6-0, 6-2, for the singles title and teaming with J.T. Nishimura to beat Brett Bacharach/James Wade (UC Davis), 8-4, for the doubles crown.

Spring 2014: Posted a 12-9 singles record and a 15-6 doubles record…compiled a 10-4 record (5-1 in the Pac-12) with Filip Bergevi at No. 3 doubles…in Cal’s NCAA second-round match, Bergevi and Engsted won, 8-7(2), in doubles to help the Bears upset eighth-seeded/10th-ranked Texas A&M in College Station, Texas…earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.

Fall 2013: The Dane posted a 6-5 singles record and 3-2 doubles record…he garnered a No. 41 ITA preseason doubles ranking with teammate Ben McLachlan…highlights included reaching the singles round of 32 at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships in Moraga, Calif., and the singles final of the Aggie Invitational at UC Davis.

Spring 2013: The Aarhus, Denmark, product posted an 18-17 singles record and 16-12 doubles record as a freshman. He claimed a final doubles ranking of No. 82 with Ben McLachlan after the duo recorded an 11-5 mark. Engsted won in singles and with McLachlan won in doubles to help clinch Cal’s 4-1 win over Florida State in the NCAA first round.

Fall 2012: Notched a 7-3 singles record...posted a 3-4 doubles mark...reached the doubles semifinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championship with Campbell Johnson.
