BERKELEY - Senior outside hitter Tarah Murrey powered her No. 4 Bears to a 3-1 upset of No. 2 Washington on Friday evening and then led them to a 3-0 victory over Washington State on Saturday, making her this week's California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.
Over the two matches, Murrey averaged 5.00 points per set, 4.71 kills per set and 4.29 digs per set.
Her 21 points versus Washington led Cal to its second win of the season over the No. 2 team in the country and the first upset of the year to help the Bears finish the first half of Pac-12 play with a 9-2 record.
Against Washington, Murrey tied a season high with a tremendous 21 kills, equaling the mark she set against Sacramento State (Sept. 10). She added 18 digs for her 10th double-double of the season - marking the seventh straight match she has had double-digit kills and digs.
With 12 kills and 12 digs versus Washington State, Murrey tallied her eighth straight double-double and 11th of the season.
