Helgans completed his collegiate career as a 2016-17 senior by making his lone appearance as a player on the golf course during his four seasons of involvement with the program (three as a player) as an individual at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in the fall of 2016. Helgans joined the program in 2013-14 in his second year as a student at Cal and was an undergraduate student assistant coach during the 2015-16 campaign before returning to the roster as a 2016-17 senior.
