2025 (Outdoor): First-Team All-ACC… competed in the pole vault in six meets… posted a mark of 5.17m (16-11.5) at the NCAA West Regional… took second at the ACC Outdoor Championships with a clearance of 5.31m (17-5)… at the Mt. SAC Relays, recorded a mark of 5.30m (17-4.5)… won the pole vault contest at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational at 5.17m (16-11.5).

2025 (Indoor): Second-Team All-American... appeared in four meets for Cal… placed 12th at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a mark of 5.46m (17-11)… named All-ACC First Team after placing third at the ACC Indoor Championships with a mark of 5.49m (18-0)… posted a new indoor school record of 5.62m (18-5.25) at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational, the second-best mark in the ACC that year and seventh-best in the nation... Indoor All-ACC Academic.

2024 (Outdoor): Did not compete for Cal during the NCAA season… competed at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, finishing 15th in the qualifying round with a mark of 5.60m (18-4.5)… posted a mark of 5.52m (18-1.25) at the Mt. SAC Relays… raised his personal best to 5.66m (18-6.75) at the Beach Invitational.

2024 (Indoor): Did not compete in a Golden Bear uniform… posted a mark of 5.23m (17-1.75) as an unattached athlete at the Ken Shannon Invitational.

2023 (Outdoor): Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week (March 28)… competed unattached at the Golden West Invitational following the conclusion of his season, vaulting 5.37m (17-7.25)… appeared in six meets for the Bears… qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary… took home the bronze at the Pac-12 Championships with his height of 5.37m (17-7.25)… posted a mark of 5.40m (17-8.5) at the Mt. SAC Relays… at the 44th Aztec Invitational, tied for the third-highest mark in program history and the 14th in Division I that year at 5.55m (18-2.5).

2023 (Indoor): Appeared in three meets for Cal… posted a pole vault mark of 5.33m (17-5.75) at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational… at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, vaulted to a height of 5.34m (17-6.25) that ranks third in program history.

2022 (Outdoor): Appeared in nine meets for the Bears… posted a height of 5.19m (17-0.25) in the pole vault at the NCAA West Region Prelims… finished fourth at the Pac-12 Championships with a vault of 4.91m (16-1.25)… took second place in the pole vault at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational with a top mark of 5.21m (17-1), a personal best and tied for eighth-highest in program history… reached a top height of 4.91m (16-1.25) at the Stanford Invitational… posted a mark of 5.17m (16-11.5) at the Aztec Invitational.

2022 (Indoor): Competed in four meets for Cal… matched his personal best with a pole vault mark of 4.98m (16-4) at the Pac-12 Invitational… set a PR of 4.98m (16-4) in the pole vault at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL: Burns was named a Junior Olympics All-American for the 2018-19 season… he was also named to the SportStars Magazine and Sacramento Rivercats All-City Team in both 2018 and 2019… earned All-Sierra Foothill League (SFL) honors in 2017-18 and 2018-19… Vertical Jumps Athlete of the Year for Oak Ridge High School in 2017-18 and 2018-19… holds the Oak Ridge pole vault record… finished seventh in the 2019 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Finals pole vault competition… competed in the 2019 Arcadia Invitational… in 2018, reached the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Finals in the pole vault… earlier that year, he won the pole vault title at the SFL Championships… was a member of the El Dorado Pole Vault Academy… also played soccer for Oak Ridge.

PERSONAL: Majoring in data science… plans to become an entrepreneur after graduation… son of Brent and Kim Burns, who are both Cal alumni… father Brent possesses the current Cal record for the outdoor pole vault and is a member of the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame… mother was a stunt and dance team member at Cal… paternal grandfather was the former javelin school record holder at Oregon… maternal grandfather was a boxer and diver at San Jose State.
