BERKELEY, CA - The No. 4 ranked California men's water polo team (5-3) fell to No. 1 ranked USC (7-0), 10-8, Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Complex. Cal battled the top-ranked Trojans close throughout the contest, but couldn't rebound from a second quarter when the Bears got outscored, 3-1.
Junior James Shin paced USC with three goals, while senior Attila Banhidy and freshman Andrija Vasiljevic had two goals apiece for Cal. The Bears outscored the Trojans, 3-2, in the fourth period on a pair of goals by Vasiljevic and a goal by junior Milos Ribic with 1:36 left in the contest. But, Cal could not break the Trojans' two-goal cushion at the half, and finally fell by the 10-8 margin.
