No. 2 Cal Men's Water Polo Defeats No. 14 UC Davis, 10-6

DAVIS, CALIF. - Led by freshman Spencer Warden's three goals, the No. 2-ranked California men's water polo team (26-3, 6-1 MPSF) topped No. 14-ranked UC Davis, 10-6, Sunday in a non-conference match at Schaal Aquatics Center on the UC Davis campus. Seven other Golden Bears scored goals, while junior goalie Mark Sheredy finished with seven saves, three steals and two assists.

Cal was in control the whole match, taking a 3-1 lead after the first period, and owning a 7-4 advantage at halftime. Besides Warden's three goals, senior Andrija Vasiljevic had a team-high four steals and added a goal. Vasiljevic, sophomore Frank Reynolds, and senior Brian Bacharach had two assists apiece, and senior Brian Kinsel forced three ejections. Junior Kevin Platshon had two field blocks as well.

Cal will next compete in its biggest match of the year, taking on No. 1-ranked and defending national champion USC, Saturday, Nov. 18 at 12 p.m. at McDonald's Swim Stadium on the USC campus. The Bears have fallen twice to the Trojans this season - 10-7, Sept. 7 at Stanford in the finals of the NorCal Tournament; and 6-5, Oct. 15 in Los Angeles in the finals of the SoCal Tournament.
