Cal improved to 9-2 on the season with tonight's victory over Colgate, and remained a perfect 9-0 when leading at halftime. The Bears boast a 7-0 record in Haas Pavilion so far this year, and have now won 29 of their last 32 non-conference home games.
For the 10th time this season, Jerome Randle was Cal's leading scorer with 16 points. Randle was 5-for-7 from the free-throw line and collected three assists.
Not far behind Randle was Patrick Christopher with 15 points. Christopher tallied nine of his 15 points in a span of just under a minute and a half when he drilled three three-pointers.
The Bears scored 44 points in the paint to Colgate's 14. Cal also earned 32 points off turnovers to the Raiders' seven, and Cal tallied 18 fast-break points to Colgate's zero.
Jordan Wilkes and Omondi Amoke each had a game-high six rebounds. Wilkes also tied his season best in points with eight.
Cal was strong at the free-throw line, making 20 of its 25 attempts. Christopher was a perfect 4-for-4, while Randle was 5-for-7, Gutierrez was 4-for-5, Boykin was 3-for-3 and Wilkes was 2-for-2.
Gutierrez put together another strong effort on Monday, finishing with eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 20 minutes of play.
Boykin also had an impressive game besides being perfect at the charity stripe, going 5-for-6 from the field and finishing with 13 points. He also totaled three rebounds, a block and a steal.
