BERKELEY – California junior Drake Callender has been named to the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club announced Thursday.

Callender, an All-Pac-12 First Team pick last season as a sophomore, is one of 32 players on the list for the award, which is given annually to the most outstanding player in the country. Callender is one of only two Pac-12 players on the list, along with UCLA's Erik Holt. He is also one of just four goalkeepers to make the watch list.

Callender was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA All-Far West Region first team last year after leading the conference in saves (78) and saves per game (4.33). He helped the Golden Bears reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years.

Cal began training camp for the 2018 season on Wednesday. The season begins Aug. 24 at home against Detroit Mercy.
