TEMPE, Ariz. – California women's tennis junior Valentina Ivanov posted a big singles win on Saturday at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, defeating San Diego's 30th-ranked Solymar Colling in three sets.
 
Ranked 119th, Ivanov bested Colling, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6. Cal sophomore Hannah Viller Moeller also took a Torero to three sets, but the Dane fell to USD's 117th-ranked Elizabeth Goldsmith, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6. Cal freshman Makenna Thiel lost to USD's Victoria Kalaitzis, 6-3, 6-0.
 
In doubles, Ivanov paired with Viller Moeller for the second straight day, but the Cal duo lost to Michigan's Jaedan Brown and Julia Fliegner, 6-3.
 
The Sun Devils' tournament ends on Sunday.
