FIRST EVER ACC GAME - Friday's series opener against Duke will mark Cal's first-ever ACC game. The Golden Bears played baseball as members of the Pac-12 (previously PCC, AAWU, Pac-8, Pac-10) from 1915-2024.
FIRST SEASON IN THE ACC - Cal has visits from three 2024 College World Series teams –Florida State, NC State and Virginia, as well as Clemson, that are currently in the top 25 poll of at least one national poll – in its first season in the ACC. Cal will play its first home ACC game March 14 against Virginia in the opener of a three-game series.
LOTS OF ROAD GAMES - After starting the season with a 10-game homestand that was the longest in recorded school history to open a campaign, Cal is two games into a stretch of 14 of 18 on the road that continues this weekend at Duke. After four home games next week against Utah (March 11) and Virginia (March 14-16), Cal returns to the road for a season-long nine-game road trip at Saint Mary's (March 18), Stanford (March 21-23), San Francisco (March 25) and Louisville (March 28-30).
NO LONG STREAKS - Cal has not won or lost more than two in a row in 2025 and done each only once, winning twice against Nevada (Feb. 14-15) and dropping two straight to Houston (Feb. 22-23).
NOT GIVING UP MANY HITS - Cal is second in the ACC and eighth nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (5.97). Saturday's probable starter RHP Gavin Eddy leads the ACC and ranks third nationally with an average of 1.88 hits allowed per nine innings, giving up just three in 14.1 innings of work.
BREAKING OUT THE BATS - Cal homered a school-record-tying eight times in a 19-3 win at Santa Clara last Sunday. Cade Campbell (4-5, 3B, 3 HR, 5 RBI) tied single-game school records with three home runs and 15 total bases to lead the attack. Alex Birge went deep twice, while PJ Moutzouridis, Jarren Advincula and Matthew Thomas also cleared the fences. The eight homers are the second most hit in a game by a Division I team in 2025 behind only BYU's 10 at Cal State Northridge on Feb. 20.
WALK OFF WIN HERO - Cole Tremain was the unquestionable hero of Cal's first walk-off win of 2025 in a 6-5 victory over Cal State Bakersfield in 11 innings on Feb. 26. Tremain produced the game-winning run on a one-out RBI single in the bottom of the 11th, homered in his first Cal at bat, was the game's winning pitcher and threw a runner out at the plate in the top of the eighth.
ON THIS DATE IN CAL BASEBALL - March 7 was a historic day in 2015 when Cal came back from a 7-0 deficit after seven innings for a 10-7 win in 11 innings at Texas to become the first team to sweep Texas in a four-game set in 79 attempts.
BIG LEAGUE CAMPS - Cal has 11 former players currently in MLB spring training camps in INF/OF Darren Baker (Nationals), RHP Tanner Dodson (A's), RHP Lucas Erceg (Royals), RHP Grant Holman (A's);,C Korey Lee (White Sox), C Caleb Lomavita (Nationals), INF/OF Nathan Martorella, (Marlins), manager Bob Melvin (Giants), INF Marcus Semien (Rangers), RHP Sean Sullivan (Pirates), OF Andrew Vaughn (White Sox).
