Tennis Tallies 21 Victories Over The Weekend
Bears Competed In Two Tournaments Last Weekend
The California men's tennis team completed play at the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as the Sherwood Collegiate Cup in Thousand Oaks, California over the weekend.
At the All-American Championship, the Golden Bears' doubles team of Timofey Stepanov and Tiago Silva was the No. 4 seed in men's doubles main draw but fell short in the Round of 32 to Texas.Â
On the singles side, Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski won three straight matches in singles prequalifying, taking down players from USF, Clemson and Miami along the way. He ended up falling in the first round of singles qualifying to Cosme Rolland De Ravel of TCU. Lenn Luemkemann won his opening round matchup in singles prequalifying but was defeated by Henrik Bladelius (Clemson) in Round 2.
Meanwhile, a delegation of four Golden Bears travelled to Thousand Oaks to compete at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup. Sophomore Paris Pouatcha shined with a 4-0 singles record and a 3-1 doubles record, playing alongside Bernardo Munk Mesa. Pouatcha defeated teams from LMU, Pepperdine, UCSB, SMU and USC. Bernardo Munk Mesa also had a strong weekend with a 3-1 record in both singles and doubles.Â
