The Lead: After a 2-0 start in Hawai'i to begin the 2026 spring season, the California men's tennis team returns to the court for the first time at home on Friday. The Golden Bears will face Cal Poly and San Diego State in a Friday doubleheader.

Notes Entering Friday:

• Cal picked up two decisive 6-1 victories last week over Hawai'i and Gonzaga.

• The Bears have won the doubles point in both of its matches so far.

• In singles play, the Bears have tallied a 10-2 record.

• In the fall, Cal had three student-athletes at the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships at the UTSA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

• Tiago Silva and Timofey Stepanov ended the fall ranked No. 55 in doubles play.

• Cal finished the 2025 spring season ranked No. 12.

• Alex Aney, Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski, Bernardo Munk Mesa and Timofey Stepanov returned to Berkeley, while Tiago Silva (Pacific), Lenn Luemkemann (Oregon) and Paris Pouatcha (Oregon) joined as transfers. Winston Lee, Andrea Meduri and Leonardo Cattaneo join the squad as the team's three freshmen.
