Golden Bears Begin 2026 Spring Campaign

Dual Matches In Hawaii Kick Off Men’s Tennis Season

The Lead: The California men's tennis team returns to the court to open the 2026 spring season on Wednesday. To kick off the 2026 campaign, the Golden Bears will face Hawai'i on Wednesday before facing Gonzaga on Thursday.

Storylines from the Fall:

  • In the fall, Cal had three student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships at the UTSA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. (Lechno-Wasiutynski, Silva, Stepanov)

  • Tiago Silva and Timofey Stepanov ended the fall ranked No. 55 in doubles play.

  • Freshman Winston Lee went 3-0 at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational in November.

  • Sophomore Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski and senior Tiago Silva played in the ITF's M25 Harlingen. Lechno-Wasiutynski and Silva paired up for the first time and competed in the doubles main draw. The duo, seeded fourth, defeated two duos to make it to the quarterfinals.

  • Cal finished the 2025 spring season ranked No. 12.

  • Cal enters the fall season with eight members on the squad. The Bears' team makeup in the fall is four returners, three transfers and one freshman.

  • Alex Aney, Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski, Bernardo Munk Mesa and Timofey Stepanov return to Berkeley, while Tiago Silva (Pacific), Lenn Luemkemann (Oregon) and Paris Pouatcha (Oregon) joined as transfers and Winston Lee joins the squad as the only freshman. In December, the Bear added Andrea Meduri and Leonardo Cattaneo.
