Cal Defeats Santa Clara With Late Goal
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The California men's soccer team earned its first win of the season in a defensive battle against Santa Clara.
The Bears entered halftime scoreless after recording four shots and one corner kick in the opening 45 minutes. The defensive battle continued into the second half before Junhwan Park broke through in the 78th minute, scoring Cal's first goal of the season to give the Bears the lead.
Cal finished the match with 11 shots, four corner kicks and three saves, holding Santa Clara scoreless to secure the victory.
Cal returns to action for its home opener on September 1 at 5 p.m. against UCLA before hosting North Carolina on Sunday. Both matches will air on ACCNX.
