Biography

Cal Success:

  • Played a key role for the 2018 Golden Bears, ranking fifth on the team in scoring with 31 goals as a junior.
  • Finished in the top 20 (19th) in the MPSF regular season with a goals per game average of 1.29.
  • Ended the year with 20 assists, 16 steals, nine blocks and nine ejections earned.
  • Scored a season-high four goals on Oct. 13 against UC Santa Barbara.
  • Scored multiple goals in a match seven times in 2018.
  • Joined the Cal men's water polo team in 2017 and made an immediate impact, tying for fourth on the squad in scoring with 26 goals.
  • Finished the 2017 season with 17 assists, 16 steals, seven field blocks and four ejections earned.
  • Scored a season-high four goals in his first game as a Golden Bear, helping Cal to a 16-1 win over LMU.
  • Scored multiple goals in a match six times in 2017.
  • Joined the Bears for the 2016-17 men's swimming season and contributed in the sprint freestyle events. Competed again in the winter of 2017 and spring of 2018.
  • Earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Academic second team as a swimmer in 2018 thanks to a 3.44 cumulative GPA. Also named to the ACWPC's All-Academic team as a water polo player.
  • Owned Cal's 12th-best time in the 50 free in 2017-18.
  • Swam to a season-best time of 20.90 in the 50 free, 45.78 in the 100 free and 1:07.65 in the 100 breast at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships.
  • Ranked ninth on the team in the 100 breast and 10th in the 100 free in 2017.

High School/Collegiate/Club/National Success:

  • Transferred to Cal after competing in water polo for UCLA in 2015-16. Ranked fifth on the team in scoring for the national champion Bruins.
  • Also at UCLA was named to the Dean's Honors List and earned ACWPC All-Academic honors after compiling the highest GPA on the UCLA men's water polo team. Was also a Alpha Lamba Delta member, an honor society for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher and who are in the top 20 percent of their class in their first year of college.
  • Played water polo throughout high school and helped Agoura HS win three CIF championships.
  • Was a member of the USA Water Polo youth and cadet national teams.

Personal

  • Parents are Chris and Christy Farrar. Has four siblings -- Kelsey, Alyse, Tess and Wyatt.
  • Intends to major in Cognitive Science.
  • Before he stopped at age 13, Farrar was an accomplished surfer. Received a NSSA Surfer of the Month award in 2010.
  • Set an American record and competed internationally in lifesaving, which focuses on rescue and lifeguarding techniques.
