Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2019):
  • Made 20 appearances out of the bullpen and posted a 3.38 ERA.
  • Threw 61 1/3 innings, allowing 59 hits, 26 runs (23 earned) and 25 walks with 57 strikeouts. 
  • Ranked third on the team in strikeouts despite not starting a single game.
  • Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 22nd round and signed a professional contract in June 2019.
  • Went four-plus innings in eight of his 20 relief outings.
  • Struck out a season-high eight with no earned runs over four innings Feb. 16 vs. Pepperdine.
  • Threw a season-high six innings with four runs allowed (three earned) and got the victory April 7 vs. Washington State. 
AS A SOPHOMORE (2018):
  • Made 11 appearances with six starts and went 3-2 in his second season as a Golden Bear.
  • Pitched 28.1 innings and struck out 27 hitters.
  • Earned first win of the season with six innings of one-run ball against Cal St. Bakersfield on Feb. 24. Struck out three, allowed three hits and walked three in the win.
  • Second win of the season came March 13 at San Francisco when he did not allow a run in two innings of work. Struck out three in the effort.
  • Collected his final win of the year on March 27 against UC Davis. Allowed just two unearned runs and struck out seven in a 9-3 Cal victory.
AS A FRESHMAN (2017):
  • Made 12 appearances (six starts) as a true freshman and won two games for the Bears.
  • Threw 27.2 innings and started against Texas Tech, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Stanford, Saint Mary's and San Francisco.
  • First collegiate win came on March 5 vs. Gonzaga when he worked 5.1 innings and allowed two runs in a 9-5 victory.
  • Won his second game in his next start, a five-inning outing against Minnesota on March 14. Struck out a career-high six and allowed just one run in a 7-1 win.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
  • Local product attended James Logan High School in Union City, Calif. where he was named Mission Valley Athletic League MVP and first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle in 2016.
  • Went 10-1 with a 0.81 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 2016.
  • Played on the Oakland A’s Area Code team in 2015 alongside Cal teammates Max Flower and Jared Horn. Also played in the North-South Game.
  • Started at quarterback for the Colts as a senior and played football for two years.
  • Played summer ball for the Pacific Union Financial Capitalists of the California Collegiate League.
  • Earned a scholar-athlete award all four years at Logan and graduated magna cum laude.
  • Undeclared major intended to pursue Business or Psychology.
