Biography

Spring 2020: Was 5-3 in doubles and 1-9 in singles in his third season as a Bear…partnered with Mert Zincirli to defeat Sacramento State’s Josh Snowdon-Poole and Elliot Arnarp, 6-2, at court-three doubles in Cal’s 4-0 blanking of the Hornets…paired with Kent Hunter to go 3-1 and reach the round of 16 of the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship.

Fall 2019: Partnered with Mert Zincirli to capture the B doubles title at the UCSB Classic…the duo – which was 3-0 at UCSB – defeated Fresno State’s Daniel Baturyn and Johannes Seeman, 8-5 in the final…overall, Wright was 4-3 in doubles and 1-9 in singles in the first half of the season…reached the UCSB Classic singles quarterfinals after beating LMU’s Ryan Brown, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, in round of 16.

Spring 2019: Went 2-0 in doubles…paired with Can Kaya to beat the Saint Mary’s pair of Brian Lee and David Abfalter, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point in a 7-0 rout of the Gaels on March 11…Wright partnered with Ben Draper to defeat the Gaels’ Lee and Jackson Hawk, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point in a 4-0 win over Saint Mary’s on March 24.

Spring 2018: Partnered with Jackson Suh to compete in the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship in March.

Fall 2017: Was 2-5 in singles in his first semester at Cal…his first college victory came in a 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 result against Gonzaga’s Simon Homedes-Dualde in the Aggie Invitational at UC Davis.

Personal: Undeclared major; interested in business…son of Fionnuala Wright, a former Irish national tennis champion, and longtime Cal Director of Men's Tennis and men’s tennis alumnus Peter Wright, a former professional player, Irish Davis Cup captain, Ireland Olympic head coach and three-time Pac-12 coach of the Year…siblings are Carly and Michael…Thomas won the WACC team title and reached the NCS semifinals with his Berkeley High School team…was a WACC Player of the Year, a member of the WACC All-Academic Team and a member of the BHS Academic Honor Roll.
