Biography
2021-22: Posted records of 20-14 in singles – including 14-5 in tournament singles play – and 11-12 in doubles…Hjorth and Yuta Kikuchi earned a final ITA doubles ranking of 85th…clinched two matches, including Cal’s 4-3 wins over Tulsa – beating Ezequiel Santalla, 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-1, on court two – and Yale, against which he beat Theo Dean, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, on court two to clinch…the top seed, Hjorth reached the singles quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at Saint Mary’s… earned the Chowderfest’s Sportsmanship Award after going 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles in Harvard’s annual fall tournament…started his fall by advancing to the singles semifinals at the Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco.
2020-21: Was 1-0 at court-three doubles, pairing with Yuta Kikuchi to beat UNLV's Jackson Atherton and Anton Ornberg, 6-0, in the consolation match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Los Angeles...Cal beat UNLV, 4-3...Hjorth finished with a 0-1 singles record (at court three).
2019-20 (at Pacific): Hjorth was ranked 120th in singles in the last Oracle ITA poll of the season, with the Dane compiling a 13-10 record...was also 6-9 in doubles…he advanced to the singles quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships….Hjorth reached the singles quarterfinals of the Battle in the Bay Classic tournament in San Francisco, knocking off TCU’s 18th-ranked Alastair Gray, 6-3, 6-1, in the round of 16…he captured the A singles title in the Duck Invitational, beating Oregon’s Ty Gentry in the final, 6-3, 6-3…Hjorth also teamed with Ross Watson to advance to the doubles final of the Duck Invite.
2018-19 (at Pacific): Put together a solid freshman campaign going 8-12 in singles play and 7-10 in doubles matches…in singles, he posted a 6-8 record on court two and was 2-4 on court one…played the majority of his doubles matches with Ross Watson, with the duo posting a 6-7 record and going 4-3 in WCC matches…Hjorth and Watson had a 5-5 record at No. 2 doubles.
Personal/Previous: Political economy major…transferred to Cal after playing two seasons at Pacific…crowned Danish men’s singles champion in April 2018.
