O'Connell is eager to begin her third year at California after missing the last two campaigns with foot injuries...has stayed focused and dedicated during a long recovery process...returned to school in great shape...can play the point and the off-guard positions depending on the game situation...good floor leader...brings determination, heart and a winning mentality to the Cal program...extremely smart player in how she utilizes her skills, which is important given her size...good three-point shooter...has worked a lot on the quickness of her release.

As a sophomore in 2005-06: Sat out the season after having a second surgery on her right foot...played for Golden State in the 2006 San Francisco ProCity Summer League.

As a freshman in 2004-05: Missed the season due to a torn perineal tendon in her right foot.

High School: Helped Mullen High School to a state runner-up finish and a 23-4 record in 2003-04...played the last six weeks of the season with a broken foot...as a senior, averaged 14.2 points, 7.1 assists, 4.3 steals and 2.0 rebounds per game to earn all-state, all-league and all-state tournament honors...as a junior, contributed 13.9 points, 6.8 assists, 3.9 steals and 2.1 rebounds per game...received all-state, all-league and all-state tournament recognition...her junior year team posted a 22-5 record after losing in the semifinals of the state tournament...tallied 20 points in the semifinal loss...her freshman and sophomore year teams won the state championship...owns the school career records for three-pointers made (226), scoring, assists, steals and the season mark for three-pointers in a season...also owns Mullen's game records for assists (12) and steals (13)...competed in The Show.
