Cal Earns CRCA Honors

Five Golden Bears Named All-Americans, Three Earn Scholar Athlete Awards

BERKELEY -  After leading Cal's varsity eight to a Pac-12 title and undefeated regular season, five members of the Cal women's rowing team have been named to the Pocock CRCA All-America Team, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced on Friday. Seniors Dana Moffat and Sydney Payne earned first-team All-America honors while Riley Brown, Juliane Faralisch, and Charlotte Wesselmann were second-team All-America selections.

The 2019 Pac-12 Rowing Athlete of the Year, Moffat earned first-team All-America honors for the second consecutive year. Moffat and fellow seniors Ellie Howe and Zoe Feist were also recognized for their performance in the classroom, earning CRCA Scholar Athlete Recognition.

Payne, a senior from Toronto, Canada, joined Moffat with first-team All-America honors and was a mainstay in the Bears' varsity eight the last three seasons.

Wesselmann, a senior from Flensburg, Germany, and stroke seat of the eight, takes home second-team All-America honors for the second consecutive season while Faralisch, a junior from Heidelberg, Germany, and the 2017 Pac-12 Women's Rowing Newcomer of the Year, also earned All-America status for the second consecutive season. Brown, a senior coxswain from Sacramento, was also named to the All-America team after guiding the Bears to an undefeated regular season.
