The No. 15 California Golden Bears (4-1) suffered their first loss of the season against the No. 17 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0), 4-2, in their first match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, at Hellman Tennis Complex on Friday.

To begin the match, Cal secured the doubles point after doubles wins on courts two and three. On court two, Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski and Andrea Meduri won 6-4, while teammates Alex Aney and Leonardo Cattaneo clinched the doubles point with a 7-6(10) win.

In singles play against the Sooners, the Bears fell short on courts, one, three, four and six with Timofey Stepanov giving Cal its only point with a 6-4, 7-6(2) win over No. 46 Luis Alvarez on court two.
