Biography

Spring 2020: Partnered with Bjorn Hoffmann to reach the semifinals of the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship, with the Golden Bears going 5-1 in the tournament…Draper clinched Cal’s win over No. 10 UCLA with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Patrick Zahraj…Draper and Hoffmann also clinched the doubles point against the Bruins, beating Zahraj and Bryce Pereira, 6-2…Draper and Hoffmann were ranked 38th in the nation in the March 3 Oracle ITA poll...Draper bested Oklahoma State’s Etienne Donnet, 6-4, 6-4, in a 4-1 loss to the Cowboys that was Cal’s last dual match before the season was suspended…the England native was 10-4 in doubles and 5-2 in singles in the 2019-20 season.

Fall 2019: Paired with Bjorn Hoffmann to compile a 6-2 doubles record in the first half of the season and end the fall with a No. 22 Oracle ITA ranking…the duo won five times to reach the final of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, beating Portland’s Tom Hann and Kostya Nesterenko, 6-4, 6-4, in the semis before falling to Oregon’s eighth-ranked Joshua Charlton and Ty Gentry, 6-3, 6-2, in the title match…the two Bears competed in the fall-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, reaching the doubles round of 16.

Spring 2019: Finished the year with an 18-11 singles record and 10-9 doubles record…at one point held a 13-match singles winning streak…Draper defeated Siphosothando Montsi, 6-4, 7-5, at court-four singles to clinch Cal’s 4-1 upset of 15th-seeded/15th-ranked Illinois in the NCAA opening round of 32 in Urbana, Illinois…he also clinched Cal’s 4-2, regular-season win over Arizona State with a 7-6(4), 7-6(2) victory over Justin Roberts…posted a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 upset of 50th-ranked Tanner Smith in Cal’s 4-3 upset of No. 5 USC in a nonconference match in Los Angeles…in doubles, he paired with Jack Molloy to clinch the point in Cal’s NCAA round of 64 win over Drake, with the two Brits beating Calum MacGeoch/Ben Clark, 6-3…Draper and Molloy also won in doubles over Illinois’ Keenan Mayo and Fletcher Scott, 7-6(3), in the next round…Draper and Molloy upset the 77th-ranked Justin Roberts/Makey Rakotomalala, 6-1, to clinch the doubles point of Cal’s eventual 4-1 upset of No. 28 ASU in the Pac-12 Championship quarterfinals.
 
Fall 2018: Was 3-5 in singles and 4-4 in doubles…Draper and Molloy reached the doubles qualifying round of 32 at the ITA All-American Championships…Draper won his first two singles matches of the season, beating Oklahoma State’s Maxim Tybar, 6-4, 6-2, and Tulsa’s Jarod Hing, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, in the Silverado Invitational.

Spring 2018: Posted a 9-6 singles record (all in dual matches) for the season…also 5-2 at court-four singles and 4-2 in Pac-12 play…finished 7-11 in doubles…won his first singles match (6-4, 6-2 over Bryant’s Scott Plutt) and first two doubles matches, partnering Jack Molloy to beat Bryant’s Jorge Ortiz-Garcia and Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia, 6-1, and then defeat Tulsa’s Joshua Goodger and Louis Corker, 7-5…Draper and Molloy knocked off one doubles team ranked at the end of the season in Michigan’s 64th-ranked Connor Johnston and Myles Schalet, 6-3...went unbeatean in six straight completed singles matches, starting with a 6-3, 7-6(3) win over Arizona’s Carlos Hassey on March 11 and ending with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over San Francisco’s Oliver Poysti on April 10.

Personal: Undeclared major…attended Reed’s School with future Cal teammate Jack Molloy…Reed’s School also produced former England star Tim Henman…the pair of Draper and Molloy has won three ITF doubles titles and competed together in the main draw of doubles in the 2016 Junior Championships at Wimbledon…Draper – who has a career-high ITF ranking of 149 – also advanced to the junior singles round of 32 at Wimbledon….Draper won a notable championship when he captured the Tier 2 Aegon British Tour Title in 2016.
