Zack Warren enters his fifth season on head coach Amanda Augustus' staff.

He helped to lead the Golden Bears to an historic 2016 season, highlighted by the programs first national team championship (as ITA National Team Indoor champions), the program's first No. 1 national team ranking, which Cal claimed for a nation's best 10 weeks, the program's first No. 1 overall seed at the NCAA team championships, a record breaking 19-0 start to begin the season, an 11-0 record at home, a birth in the final four and the program's best year-end ranking at No. 2 in the country.

Individually the 2016 program earned four All-American accolades for a total of 10 All-American awards over the past two seasons. The two year span places the Bears at No. 1 in the country among all men’s and women’s tennis programs for All-American recognition.

Prior to being named All-American’s Maegan Manasse and Denise Starr teamed up in the fall to win the first Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Doubles Title in 17 years. The duo continued their exceptional season by reaching the NCAA Doubles Championship and being named the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year. Manasse would later claim All-American honors in singles, be named the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year and win the Pac-12 Singles Championship, a first since 2006.

Klara Fabikova reached the top 10 of the national singles rankings for the first time in her career; propelling the senior to her first All-American singles accolade. Sophomore Karla Popovic, became the first Cal Bear to go undefeated in a dual-match season recording a 23-0 singles record.

Olivia Hauger became the first Golden Bear to collect the Most Outstanding Player Award at the ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship, after clinching the 4-3 win over defending Indoor National Champion North Carolina in the final. Hauger’s performance at the Indoor Championships and her clinching role over Florida, which was aired on national television, earned the freshman the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award and a place in Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd.

Off the court the Bears continue to receive recognition for their work in the classroom and in the local community. The women’s tennis program has a 100% Graduation Rate and earned the Public Recognition Award from the NCAA as one of only three teams at Cal to achieve a perfect APR over a four year span. In the classroom Lynn claimed Pac-12 All-Academic honors with fellow senior Klara Fabikova.

In 2015 Warren was named the ITA Northwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, assisting Cal to a 22-4 record, spending the majority of the year ranked inside the top 5 in the nation, the Bears were the No. 1 ranked team in the Northwest Region, defeating Stanford twice in one year for the first time in program history.
The 2015 Cal Women’s Team led college tennis with six All-American accolades.

Fabikova and Zsofi Susanyi earned All-American status reaching the finals of the NCAA Doubles Championship after a strong fall, including the ITA Northwest Region Title.

The 2014-15 season also saw Maegan Manasse claim the No. 1 singles ranking in the country on Feb. 10. After playing No. 6 singles for the Bears as a freshman, Manasse started off her sophomore year upsetting then No. 1 ranked Jamie Loeb of North Carolina at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships; Maegan continued to knock off top 10 opponents throughout the year, becoming the team’s No. 1 player and a singles All-American.

Susanyi joined Manasse as a singles All-American, while Manasse and Denise Starr also partnered up as an All-American doubles duo.

While at Brigham Young University, Warren helped guide the men's team to three historic seasons, elevating the program to new heights, which included a Mountain Region record of 27-0. The first year as an assistant Warren helped the program to its best finish since 1997 with the team finishing No. 36 in the country, no team prior to 1997 had finished in the top 60. The Cougars reached the same milestone the following year and found itself in the top 25 in 2010 for the first time in over 30 years.

The 2010 and 2011 Cougar squads both finished with a BYU record-tying 21 wins, going 21-7 and 21-6, helping propel the team to two consecutive NCAA Championships.

In 2010, Warren helped the Cougars earn their first conference title since 2003. The Cougars went on to win both the Mountain West Conference regular-season championship and tournament title in 2011.

Warren's perfect record against regional opponents (27-0) over three seasons helped him earn the 2011 Mountain Region Assistant Tennis Coach of the Year, making him a candidate for the National Assistant Coach of the Year.

Warren spent one season as the men’s assistant coach at UNLV, where he helped coach another program to a winning record, including a 12-4 record at home. He also served as the men’s volunteer assistant coach at Cal, with the Bears reaching the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

Before his hiring as an assistant coach at BYU, Warren played collegiate tennis for BYU during the 04-05 and 05-06 seasons.

Warren graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in communications and a business minor. His wife, Angela, is a former All-American track athlete for BYU. The two reside in Berkeley.
