BERKELEY, CA - The No. 5 California women's swimming team (4-0) defeated Rice University (0-3), Friday afternoon at the Spieker Aquatics Complex. The Bears captured 13 of 14 swimming events in the 25 meter dual. Cal was lead by junior Haley Cope, who captured the 100 back (1:02.57), 200 back (2:18.10), and 100 fly (1:03.09). Cope was also a member of the first place 400 free relay (Yeo, Begin, Cope, Omphroy). Cal was also lead by double winners Joscelin Yeo (50 free, 200 free), Waen Minpraphal (200 fly, 400 free), and Stacianna Stitts (200 breast, 200 IM). Minpraphal and Stitts were also members of the first place 200 medley relay (Overton, Stitts, Minpraphal, Riggs). The Bears next host Nevada, Friday, Nov. 19 at 1p.m.
