SAN ANTONIO, TX - The No. 5 ranked University of California women's swim team had an impressive performance last week, Dec. 2-4, at the U.S. Open Championship in San Antonio, TX. Competing against some of the top swimmers in the world, the Golden Bears had several outstanding efforts, both individually and in the relays. Cal placed first among nine collegiate teams with 216 points.

In the relays, the Bears placed second overall in both the 400-meter medley relay (4:12.24, Haley Cope, Staciana Stitts, Joscelin Yeo, Anya Kolbisen) and the 400-meter freestyle relay (3:51.21, Kolbisen, Yeo, Nicole Omphroy, Elli Overton). Cal also had a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter medley relay (4:19.66, Overton, Hanna Jaltner, Waen Minpraphal, Omphroy) and placed seventh in the 800-meter freestyle relay (8:30.37, Minpraphal, Overton, Yeo, Jennifer Riggs).

Individually, freshman standout Staciana Stitts was second in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:09.38) and 10th in the 200-meter breaststroke. Sophomore Joscelin Yeo finished ninth in the 200-meter IM (2:17.47) and 10th in the 50-meter freestyle, while junior Haley Cope placed ninth in the 100-meter backstroke (1:04.06). Senior Elli Overton was 11th in the 200-meter IM (2:18.22) and 12th in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:36.95).
