BERKELEY - In the first action of the season, the California men's tennis team scored a 9-0 win over Asia University of Japan in an exhibition dual match at the Hellman Tennis Center.

Freshman Robert Kowalczyk made his debut for the Bears, posting a 6-3, 6-4 singles victory and teaming with redshirt freshman Ben Miles for an 8-3 doubles win.

The Bears begin the regular season when they travel to the All-American Tournament in Austin, Texas, Oct. 9-17.
