LOS ANGELES - A day after defeating Stanford for the first time in school history, the UCLA women's swimming and diving team was unable to complete a repeat performance, and fell to Cal, 152-147, on Saturday afternoon at Men's Gym Pool on the UCLA campus. The dual meet was contested in a short course, yards format.

The meet was tied heading into the final event, the 400 Free Relay, which Cal won in 3:23.49, which was a new Men's Gym Pool record.

UCLA again had several outstanding performances, including those by senior Keiko Price and freshman Erin Zehntner. Zehntner took to the pool first, edging teammate Beth Boehm for the 1000 Freestyle win in a time of 10:21.42. She then headed straight for the blocks for one of the more exciting races of the day, the 200 Free.

In the 200 Free, Price made her first appearance of the day, keeping pace with Cal's Joscelin Yeo throughout the race. In the final 50, Price looked as though she had a slight edge on Yeo as they headed to the finish, but Yeo was able to out-touch Price, taking first in the event by a 1:48.93 to 1:48.94 margin. Zehntner finished third in 1:51.27.

For the second straight day, the Bruin butterfliers turned in an impressive performance, as Julia Voitovitch and Katie Younglove finished 1-2 in the 200 Fly. The pair came back for a 2-3 finish in the 100 Fly, where Yeo won the event for Cal in a pool record time of 53.76.

Price won both of the short sprint freestyles, narrowly missing the 50 Free pool record of 23.01 set by world record holder Jenny Thompson in 1994. Price won the event in with a 23.09, then came back after the first intermission to win the 100 Free in 51.07.

Zehntner earned UCLA's last swimming event title of the day in the 500 Free, turning in a time of 4:53.22 in the process. Diving events were contested on Friday at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center.

UCLA returns to action on Saturday, February 12, when the Bruins play host to USC. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at Noon at Men's Gym Pool.
