Junior forward Sean Lampley scored 28 points as California rebounded from a 51-point loss at Stanford last weekend to defeat Washington, 75-64, Thursday at KeyArena.

The Bears improved to 15-10 overall and 6-7 in the Pac-10 and now sport a 4-2 road record in league action. Washington fell to 9-17 and 4-10 with the loss.

Lampley, who made 11-of-15 shots from the floor, just missed his career high of 29 points set at Oregon earlier this year. He scored 17 points in the first half when the Bears moved out to a 32-26 lead.

In the second half, UW's Deon Luton scored 10 points in the first 5:14 of the period to help tie the game at 38-all. The Huskies then went ahead 50-47 on a pair of David Dixon free throws with 9:14 left.

Cal, though, responded with a 10-0 run, which started with a three-pointer from Shantay Legans and ended on a Joe Shipp put-back with 7:32 remaining. The Bears led 64-61 entering the final minute of play, and Cal clinched the game by making 9-of-10 from the foul line in the final 53 seconds. Donte Smith was the key contributor, as he sank 5-of-6 from the stripe.

"I'm very proud of the way our team responded," said Cal head coach Ben Braun. "This shows how much character our team has. We battled all the way through and came up with the big plays when we had to. This was a total team effort."

Besides limiting UW to 40.4 percent shooting from the floor, Cal also forced 21 turnovers, including eight from point guard Senque Carey.

In addition to Lampley's 28 points, Shipp added 15 and Nick Vander Laan had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Cal next plays at Washington State Saturday at 7:30 p.m. If the Bears win that game, they will have clinched their first winning Pac-10 road record since 1994.
