DAVIS, CA - The Cal gymnastics team beat UC Davis on the Aggies home turf on Thursday night, scoring its best team score in school history, 194.750 to the Aggies 190.625. The Bears had their best totals of the season on bars, beam, and floor, but missed the team-high record in vault by .250 points.
Cal swept all three top spots on every event except the floor exercise, a three-way tie between Davis' Ericka Ruelas and Keri Wong and Cal's Leila Khoury.
Khoury won the all-around competition after taking first on vault (9.800) and tying for first on the floor exercise (9.875). Khoury also tied for second on both bars (9.875) and beam (9.750) to set a new career mark in the all-around with a score of 39.300.
Pari Olver won the uneven bars competition with a 9.900 performance and took second on balance beam (9.750) to finish the meet with a career record total of 39.000.
The Bears travel to San Jose State on Saturday night for their second meet of the weekend at 7:30 p.m.
