No. 1 Cal Women's Water Polo Defeats Long Beach State, 11-6

BERKELEY, CA - The No.1 ranked University of California women's water polo team (15-2) was victorious in its match versus No. 10 Long Beach State (9-11), defeating the 49ers, 11-6, Friday at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
Cal was led by seniors Colette Glinkowski and Kaliya Young, and sophomore Julie Arnold with three goals apiece. Other scorers for the Bears included junior Beth Irwin and sophomore Breena Fleener.
Long Beach State was led by senior Elizabeth Garcia's two goals. Senior Karen Helm, junior Jessica Johnson, and freshman Ashley Richardson also scored for the 49ers. Although Long Beach State put up a good fight, the Bears led the whole match, leading 4-1after the first period, 7-2 at the half, and 9-4 after the third period.
The Bears will next host the No.19 ranked San Diego State Aztecs, Saturday, Mar. 18 at 12 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
