TEMPE, Ariz. - After nearly four hours of play, the Arizona State
men's tennis team (6-12, 1-6 Pac-10) fell to California (11-6, 3-3 Pac-10)
5-2, today at the ASU Whiteman Tennis Center.
In singles court two action, ASU senior Ed Carter defeated Cal's
(75) Erik Dmytruk, 6-4, 6-3. On court three, Sun Devil Matt Klinger nabbed
a winning point against the Golden Bears' Adrian Barnes, 6-2, 6-2. Cal did
not take its four singles points easily, as ASU took the squad to three
sets on courts one, four, five and six (with a tiebreaker on court one).
In doubles play, the Sun Devil tandem of Ed Carter and Pim Van Mele
defeated the Bears' David Tzou and Adrian Barnes, 8-6 on court three. This
increased the duo's overall record to 3-0.
Arizona State will resume play on Wednesday April 19, at 1:30 p.m. when it
hosts Cal Poly at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
