Berkeley, Calif. - After winning four straight matches, the No. 33 California men's tennis team lost it's first match since March 25th today, falling to No. 18 USC, 5-2. With the loss the Bears move to 10-5 overall and 3-4 in Pac-10 play.

USC came up strong in doubles, taking two of three matches to capture the doubles point for the Trojans. The Bears only doubles victory of the day came on court two where Robert Kowalczyk and Ben Miles defeated Patrick Gottelesben and Daniel Langre, 8-5. The win was Kowalczyk and Miles' fifth in a row, moving them to 12-5 overall on the year.

Things didn't get much better for the Bears in singles as USC took four of six matches to assure a Trojan victory. The lone bright spots for the Bears were John Paul Fruttero and Adrian Barnes as both were victorious, defeating USC's Ryan Moore, 6-2, 6-2 on court two, and Parker Collins, 7-5, 7-6 on court six respectively. The win was Fruttero's fifth in a row and tenth of the year. Barnes won his second straight match since missing the previous eight matches after undergoing surgery to repair an injured shoulder.

Cal will be back in action again tomorrow, April 8th when they take on No. 1 UCLA, at noon, at Hellman Tennis Center.
