BERKELEY - The Cal rugby team continued its 2001 season with a 97-0 victory over Chico State Saturday afternoon on Witter Field. Due to wet field conditions, the game had to be moved from Chico, to Berkeley.

The Bears, who defeated Saint Mary's last Saturday, 78-14, went into halftime with a 38-0 lead.

John Buchholz had 11 two-point conversions and added three tries, for a total of 37 points on the day. Shaun Paga scored four tries to give the Bears 20 points.

In the second team game, Cal shut out Chico, 81-0. The second team has not allowed a score this season, defeating Saint Mary's last weekend, 88-0.

Cal hosts UC Davis next Saturday, February 3, at 1 p.m. at Witter Field.
