No. 14 Oregon State topped No. 12 California,195.575-195.000 at Gill Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. The Bears broke the 195 mark for the second consecutive meet, but couldn't overcome a Beaver squad that had one gymnast, Katrina Severin, hit a 9.900 or better on three events and several others who turned in career-best performances.
Senior Pari Olver and junior Carrie Kriefels finished one-two in the all-around as Olver tallied a 39.225 mark and Kriefels scored a 39.100 on the day.
The Bears failed to place first in any event, but they did manage to finish second on the beams with the help of Kriefels (9.850) and second also on the floor when Olver hit a 9.850.
Junior Lindsay Baker tied for fourth on the beams (9.825) with teammate Olver and OSU's Marissa Bruch.
The Bears are now 1-24 all-time against OSU. Cal will travel to Southern California to face Cal State Fullerton, Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in Titan Gymnasium.
